![]() ![]() Like in Madden or NBA 2k, we have to shorten the game clock to make our score make sense, otherwise we’ll end up with 1000 points. Keeping in mind that every mission we fly after mission 1 counts for 3. Here’s the board before our next mission. That said, only one other pilot in the regiment has one. They gave out 3.8 million of these so they weren’t too special. So basically, given to everybody for everything. ![]() for merit in strengthening the defence capabilities of the socialist community.for great contribution in maintaining the high combat readiness of troops….for exemplary performance of special command tasks and other outstanding deeds committed in peacetime.for courage and valour displayed during the performance of military duties, or, in circumstances involving a risk to life.for outstanding service in ensuring public safety and the security of the State Border ….for successful operations of military units and formations which resulted in the enemy suffering considerable casualties or damage.for personal courage and bravery in battle, for the excellent organization and leadership in combat that contributed to the success of our troops. The Order of the Red Star was awarded to : Szt Natasha having won the Order of the Red Star on her last sortie, I decided to look it up: The P-39 also has historical interest as it was perhaps more beloved by VVS pilots than the USAAF which built it. Also got some historical interest as some of the best VVS aces flew it. It’s basically the Magikarp-to-Gyrados evolution of the LaGG-3, which Lavochkin made in a hut by an airfield in Winter 1941. I think I’m going to stay away from the collector planes for this run, except maybe the La-5FN. Fly the Yak if you want to have a good time, but try switching off with a so-called ‘energy fighter’ to learn what you’re not learning. The Yak will lull you into sleep with its deceptively easy turning, engine and radiator management - and you’ll find yourself making pretty little dime-circle-turns above the trees until you suddenly fall out of the sky and realize you’ve been bleeding airspeed until the airplane stalled. Energy Management or Energy Maneuverability (E-M) is the footsies of the air combat world - the fundamental skill is to maintain better actual and potential speed & turn than your opponent. The danger, though, is that this breeds bad habits in the pilot. It won’t outrun or catch up to a MiG (or any German plane), but it will out-turn them all day at low altitude. I mused a little about the Yak-1 as compared to the MiG:Ĭoming from the MiG, the Yak-1 is an interesting beast - a supremely stable so-called “turn fighter” that maintains controllability at almost all speeds. ![]()
